Scott Pilgrim sword crochet hook grip

I love Scott Pilgrim. I unfortunately saw the movie first (I'm one of those that has to read the book first), even though I absolutely loved the movie, I still had to go read the original graphic novels. On the cover of the sixth one Scott Pilgrim is holding a sword, I thought this would make an awesome crochet hook grip. I had to do a little bit of Google searching to find out what the actual grip looked like but this is what I came up with.

I apologize for the awful lighting in some of these pictures. I can only craft when it is already getting dark outside so I'm only left with bad florescent lighting.

Things you will need

  • White polymer clay
  • Black polymer clay
  • Pink or red polymer clay
  • Metal crochet hook

1. Start off with a white base. I just wrapped a piece of clay around the hook and rolled it between my hands until it wrapped around. I cut off the ends to make it even and then flattened out all the sides. Keep in mind that white is very unforgiving. EVERYTHING shows up on it so, make sure you wash your hands between using different colors.

2. Take a piece of black clay and flatten it out as thin as you can. Take a knife or a toothpick and cut out little diamond shapes. I cut out one I liked and then used that as sort of a pattern. Place the diamond shapes onto the white base.

3. Take a piece of pink or red clay and roll it into a ball. From here you can shape the ball into a heart.

4. Take a little chunk out of the bottom of the white base. Place the heart into the bottom.

5. Bake according to your clay's baking instructions. I baked mine for about 30 minutes. That's it! Pretty easy!

My craft storage

I've recently taken over my parent's basement with all the sewing and projects I have going on right now. I have a really bad habit of leaving my stuff everywhere and completely unorganized. I'm pretty sure my parents (especially my mom) do not appreciate it. I had my sewing stuff just in a plastic container and in a traveling sewing container (is that what they are called?) It was always hard to find anything so, I decided to try to find some drawers to organize all my stuff.

I was at Walmart and I found these bad boys on clearance. I'm not really a big fan of the magenta but they were only ten dollars!!

In the first drawer I decided to put scissors and pins and current project stuff.

In the second drawer, I put supplies. Ribbon, glue, felt, stencils, anything of that sort.

The third drawers I just used for patterns.

Because I moved all of my sewing stuff into the drawers it freed up an extra container for me. I ended up using this container for some yarn that didn't have a home. I also have a huge yarn drawer in my room.

So, that is my entire craft storage and supplies besides my fabric.

DIY Colorado Avalanche patch

I thought it would be cool to make a Colorado Avalanche patch out of felt. It's pretty easy and I think it looks pretty cool. It could be put on a beanie or just to have. The possibilities are endless!

The first thing I did was trace out all the pieces for the patch. I just Googled an image of the logo the size I wanted and traced it on a piece of paper.

Then I just pinned the pieces onto the right color of felt and cut them out.

Then I just glued everything together. I used a picture as reference to add all the smaller details.

Pretty easy! This didn't take me long to do at all!

Roberto from Futurama Cosplay

Welp, back at it again with another Futurama post! I have mentioned in previous posts that Futurama is my favorite show. Roberto is one...
